Artist Biography

Born in 1976, Ian first went to Art school in 1993 studying at South Essex College of Art on a one year foundation course. After studying Architecture & Design at Brighton University, Ian subsequently graduated with a diploma from The Bartlett School of Architecture at UCL.

During his studies Ian became attuned to painting and worked it into his final project presentation and since graduating in 2007 Ian has balanced working in the architectural industry with his passion in art and in particularly in painting.

Following the Financial Crash of 2008 however, Ian relocated to Berlin and it was here he felt his path in art began. Being immersed in a creative environment, against the backdrop of the global recession and the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Wall, he created a series of works capturing some of the people he met and places he experienced.

Upon his return to the UK Ian rented an art studio in London within the Hackney Wick art community. He resumed his architectural career while painting and exhibiting intermittently.
